The fan shroud decided to rub against the radiator and the radiator sprung a leak. It was time to replace the radiator and I decided to go with electric fans. I was going to go with a single 16" electric fan, but found a dual 12" setup that fit perfectly on the Monte Carlo radiator. This electric fan came with an adjustable thermostat. A switch for a manual override, and four 5/16-24 x .75 bolts (for the upper pulley) was all I needed to get to do the install.
UPDATE: The adjustable thermostat controller decided to short out. I purchased a kit from painless and now have a temp sensor on the right side cylinder head instead of that hokey temp sender inside the upper radiator hose. I feel that this is a better place for the sensor because it reads engine temp and not radiator temps.
I modified the upper fan shroud to mount the radiator to the radiator core. I trimmed the factory piece with my sawzall and then used a large set of shears to cut the final shape. After I got the back edge of the new radiator mount straight, I took a utility knife and shaved the sharp edges left by the shears.
I'm really happy with the look and results of this upgrade. If one didn't know better, you'd think that it came from the factory this way.
